Kate Moss is a star … Most of us admire her because she is not afraid to be herself and the rest of people hate her, because she is self-confident, brutal, determined, sexy and so popular. This time Kate is making a debut and will auction her first self-portrait “Who needs blood when you’ve got lipstick?”

When you hear the name Tapio Wirkkala, you immediately think about a small Japanese or Chines man, don’t you? Oh! Of course, NO! You think how wonderful Finlandia 1st Vodka bottle the first bottle of Finnish vodka was! Am I right? Again NO! So, it means, that you are a perfect expert in art and know, that Tapio Wirkkala was a famous Finnish artist, if to be precise, designer.

It is no use to deny the facts, as we all know, they are stubborn thing, Tapio Wirkkala is responsible for the 1st Finnish vodka bottle design. Also, he gave birth to a famous kitchen set Littala’s Ultima Thule. These two masterpieces are so popular because of a brand new form and design, it was a great step forward in glassware designing. Both items possess a form of falling icicle and were made from transparent glass. By the way, Tapio Wirkkala created his own glassblowing method.

In 1950′s he produced a series of vases. Some of them now can be seen exceptionally at the auctions. Some of his works are the representatives of Museums. As a rule, each item is sold in a very quick way. As for me, I think that a famous modern designer, Kenzo (I mean Kenzo Takada) has much in common with glass designer Wirkkala. It looks like a  plagiarism. Especially, if we have a look at those two things: Bottle of the perfume Fleur by Kenzo and Iittala vase “Ovalis” by Tapio Wirkalla. Do you see any connections?

John Lennon Famous GlassesOn the 2nd of August 2007 on one of the most popular British internet-auction 991.com was sold famous round glasses of John Lennon from the “Beatles”. According to the requests of a buyer organizers of the auction didn’t mention the sum. But, as to the suggestions of paparazzi, they are likely to cost not less than 1 million pound sterling.

This glasses without lenses was put up for tender in the end of last week and there was an incredible excitement for them, ’cause Lennon wore it right at the height of the “Beatles” popularity and this glasses do became the symbol of the whole generation.

This glasses is invaluable, it is not glasses it the tremendous thing, a reflection of the epoch, it saw a lot and survived a lot.

The glasses was put up for tender by the collectors – a producer on Japanese television from the USA, he got it from the previous owner, and he in his turn got this glasses from Lennon himself.

In 1966 Lennon during his visit in Japan made friends with this man, he used to be an interpreter. Before leaving, according to the old Japanese legend – friends decided to exchange presents – Lennon gave his glasses.

In 1980, Japanese friend of Lennon having found out about his death, took off the lenses from glasses, because the Japanese believe – if to take off lenses from glasses after the death of a person – soul of this person will see everything clear in after-life.

A couple of days buyers from Great Britain, Russia, Japan and US have been trying to buy this glasses, finally a man from the UK succeeded.
