Google always stay in the know of the most interesting and important events. Even now, they didn’t fail and have updated their logo for celebrating the 50th anniversary of this extremely popular plastic brick. I am talking about the Lego Brick.
The first brick was patented on January 28 1958 but the story started many years before this date in 1932 in the workshop of his creator, Ole Kirk Christiansen. BYW, there are approximately 100 new items of LEGO bricks created particularly for this celebration.
LEGO is not a children game anymore. Numerous artists create their own versions of LEGO people, cities, celebrities, towns etc. Artist Nathan Sawaya has his own studio in New York City. He left a very promising post (he was a lawyer) and started creating his own sculptures from LEGO bricks. Now, he is famous, he has already had some exhibitions and he spends his days while making new sculptures. They are mainly of 3 colours: red, blue and yellow, which according to Nathan explore the human emotions attached to birth, death and transformation. All his masterpieces are glued (if the artists happened to like them).
Happy Birthday LEGO Brick!
