Cloud Lamp Design

This amazing and cool Cloud Lamp was inspired by the poem of Xu Zhimo and designed by Zhao Liping. I really love this lamp because it made my heart so warm.

The lamp comes in two variants: the first one is the floor lamp and it has a pull chain that resembles a tiny rain drop and the second one looks like a pendant and it is the Cloud lamp that will make Apple fans happy.

This designer successfully created his own cloud! The lighting from the lamp is soft and floating. The design is still a prototype, so pricing and availability have not yet been announced.

It goes without saying that teddy bears are cool, sweet and we love them so much. Such bears are wonderful toys and we all would love to hug them and spend some time with them. That is why the following lamp will definitely make you feel comfortable and safe!

Matthew Kinealy reminds me of my childhood and my favorite toys. He managed to design the Teddy Bear Table Lamp, and it is a great combination between a toy and light.

Yeah, we can’t take this modern table lamp too seriously but it will be the main attention getter in any house and all people would love it.

This tiny and funny table lamp will easily create a nice atmosphere.

The lamp is inspired by the classic silhouette of the Atollo lamp by Viso Magistretti. Love it – very fresh and cool.

Glow clock

This time piece looks very minimalistic and it is made of white Corian with oversized minute and hour hands.

Undercover lamp

This lamp looks like and upholstered furniture and it is very cool.

Design of the following lamp was inspired by the ubiquitous Ikea paper lanterns. It looks so cool and so lightweight, like a butterfly or a snowflake.

The lamp was created by Nightshop. The best thing – it is made entirely of PVC materials.

The Ugliest Things of the Year

Have you ever heard of Oops design awards, this is a very “honourable award” that was found by Andrej Statskij earlier this year. The following award is given to those who managed to create the ugliest,silliest and most useless products in furniture design, design itself, tableware and houseware design, lighting and etc. Not very prestigious, yeah? You are welcome to get acquainted with the winners 2008:

Flock lamp,designed by Julia Lohmann. Oh my God, it looks really terrible! Who would dare to hang such a thing in a house?

XXL chair,designed by Janneke Hooymans&Frank Tjepkema. One of the funniest things ever, truly disgusting.

Lamp-dog,designed by Fiona Jean Thomson. It looks like a beaheaded Queen, sad and terrifying.

Nature V 2.01 chair,designed by Draw Me A Shieep designers. Frankly speaking, I don’t think nature can create something as ugly as this thing.

Swell Lamp Design

Everything amazing is completely usual and can be found around us. I am ready to bet that numerous artists draw inspiration from every day objects and situations, they simply don’t tell us about their discoveries.

For example, the following swell lamp was inspired by the physics of expanding and contracting materials and made by Paul Cocksedge. The swell lamp looks like a part of thermometer but after a closer look you can notice how unusual it is.

What is more, when switched it DO works like a thermometer. The thin glass-tube bulb is filled with a colored liquid and when it heats up it gradually rises in the tube, that is the time for the light to switch on.

Crossing the Line Between Light and Darkness

Studio Mango has recently invited their new chandelier. The following thing shows a vague balance between darkness and lightness and proves how ephemeral it can be. The chandelier is all things simplicity and contrasts. We used to think that lamps should be big, beautiful and sparkling but idea of this company is light above everything.

The chandelier perfectly performs its main function but it is lack of attractive details. The lamp is decorated with metal ball wires.

Jesus Floor Lamp

It is such a pleasure to have this lamp since it can bring not only light but a lot of fun. What I am talking about? Just place this nice floor lamp behind a chair or sofa and let your friend sit on it. This person will look like a saint, and the lamp like a halo. Apart from entertainment it provides enough light for reading or working.

The lamp has been created by a Mexican designer Ricardo Garza Marcos.
