Today, I decided to make a small pause and to write about history of designing, about its the most prominent (or, at least, one of the most prominent) landmarks – abstract art. It is popular nowadays, millions of people and even a lot of modern artist can be named just followers of the first abstract art representatives.

In general, abstract art means a kind of art, that doesn’t reflect object from nature and natural world, but from artist heads and imagination.

So, today’s vision and opinion about abstract art traces back to 1910, when Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque created cubism, in the course of time, it led to the creation of pure abstract art. It was invented by Piet Mondrian. As to cubism it wasn’t based on native art with some elements of abstract art, it was a breakthrough in the history of painting – artists paint because of their own artistic preferences and tastes. Then, comes the period of impressionism - artists used to have a completely different point of view and vision of the world.

Then came time of the post-impressionists´ (Van Gogh and Gauguin), their paintings were just the reflection of their own inner world. Now, it looks funny and unbelievable, but earlier artists were making exceptionally copies of nature and abstract art gives first artists, which used their imagination and pictures from their head. After some time, more and more artists chose abstract art and then came a split in the community of abstract art supporters. Now, I decide to make a table, in order not puzzle you. Thus, you will clearly see what it’s all about. So, abstract style and its main representatives:

CUBISM (Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque);

NEOPLASTISICM (Piet Mondrian);

ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM (Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock);

Abstract art used to be a free art, I mean with no censorship. But, in fact, it has a lot of limits, such as: abstract-geometric and cubistic bounds, relation between expression and form, modern paintings have no conflict between abstract art and figurative art.
