The Villa is one of the loveliest buildings ever. It is a public building that catches the eye of everybody who goes near it and sees it. As to me it is impossible not to enjoy the following building because it sits at the heart of the Heerlijkheid park in the Netherlands and it is a very unusual and really funky building that contains numerous offices, and a café.

The Villa was designed by Fat in the town of Hoogvliet. According to the architecture the building is about to create a modern and sophisticated building of the 21st century that has its own style and character. I like amazing timber rain screen cladding as well as numerous references to elements of nature in the entrance. The façade of the building can be named everything but boring. The most interesting and dare part is the pink paint – the whole building is decorated with.

A California-based architect Sid Wichienkuer is a new face in this filed but his incredible building attracts attention of numerous researchers and people. The following Building for Bowkunde is only a concept that the designer has created as a redesign for the school of architecture.

His ideas turned to be the best and the most unusual among the rest of proposals and sketches. Wichienkuer concentrated his design around sections and topographies, thus his building is oriented around a central quad that has the school’s library and enough space for each floor. The building comes with a number of stairs, allowing people to climb the building.

The design looks very innovative but as to me a bit dark, however, the idea is clear and it has all rights for further development and realization.

WHY

Frankly speaking, the wish for erecting VERY big buildings is as old as the hills. Big buildings are not simply BIG buildings, they are perfect indicators of power and wealth. Earlier they used to honour leaders or religious beliefs (for instance, why not think about the pyramids in Egypt, the gothic cathedrals of France).

At first sight, all these buildings have nothing in common, but… Let’s have a closer look at them. Actually, they were built with stone or masonry walls, supporting most of the weight, so we deal with load-bearing walls.

This was just the 1st step and namely it in the 19th century gave birth to a completely new type of building: the skyscraper. Elevator is regarded the first serious development and invention. Before Elisha Graves Otis developed a safety device that kept elevators from falling if a cable should break, all the elevators were too primitive elevators and steam-operated. Later it was switched to an electric motor. Thus, an elevator became the main feature, which made skyscrapers rather convenient.

There is the second stage of elevators’ development. Chicago, 1871, an awful fire took place and destroyed many buildings, but, the years that followed, and despite the most gloomy predictions of extremely slow and difficult, almost impossible recovering, the city experienced explosive growth. It is really hard to imagine, but by the 1880s, the available land for new buildings was almost absent and city architects had to think about alternatives. In a very quick way, people realized they have to build tall buildings instead of wide buildings. But in order to make these dreams come true they had to change construction techniques. A new method of building was born, a grid of steel beams and columns were used, they provided the needed support even in the cases of earthquakes and harsh winds. That is how the first skyscraper was born.

Believe it or not, but most designers just can’t stand these too plain and simple buildings, they hold little appeal to such designers. They think of them as being too banal and even don’t worth our attention. But, there are some creators, who do things a little differently, they prefer making cracked and eggs houses instead of ordinary apartment ones. Most Bizarre and Outrageous Buildings in the world:

The Crooked House, Sopot, Poland

This house is situated in Poland and was created by Polish architect Szotyńscy Zaleski. Its design was inspired by Jan Marcin Szancer illustrations and the pictures of the Swedish artist – Per Dahlberg. It belongs to one of the most photographed building in the entire Poland, possesses magnificent curves and a blue-green enameled shingles roof. Actually, it was destined to create the impression of a huge dragon, but it failed. The building is always overcrowded and contains a plenty of shops, cafes and bars. And don’t worry, it doesn’t going to fall.

Ferdinand Cheval Palace, France

This building has a prominent and very intriguing story. One day, French postman Ferdinand Cheval was making a walk, suddenly a stone fell at his head. He was OK, picked up the stone and the next day returned to this place, gathered a lot of these stones and was full of eager to create a building out of the beautiful stones. He spent 33 years building this “Ideal Palace” as Ferdinand Cheval called it.

The Torre Galatea Figueras, Spain

Such a gorgeous name was given to the tower (Torre Galatea) where Dali spent the last years of his life. Nowadays, it is a museum. It looks really bizarre with these eggs. <strike></strike>

The Dog Park Inn

It’s not a problem to stay at a 5-star super luxurious hotel, but why not try such a romantic place as the Dog Park Inn. It is the most recognizable bed and breakfast hotel in Cottonwood, Idaho. Furnishings in the form of chainsaw dog carvings will definitely draw your attention. And by the way, don’t forget to buy gifts for your pets.

Hundertwasser Building

The Hundertwasser house (or it is also called “Waldspirale” or “Forest Spiral”) was built in Darmstadt in 2000. It got its name due to its creator – Friedensreich Hundertwasser. His design is extremely bright, revolutionary and so colourful. The house is amazing and draws attention as a huge magnet.
