Light shoji screen

  1. Typical size of such a screen is three by eight inch square. Kumiko or a grid work – three by four inch;
  2. Rice paper is attached with rice glue (instead of it, it’s possible to use some other kinds of paper, that is stronger and thicker);
  3. While choosing wood materials, pay attention that they are expensive but of be of high quality.

Main points of Gluing Shoji Paper:

  • place your frame in horizontal position;
  • fasten adhesive labels to make sure your paper won’t slip;
  • carefully apply the glue (holding the bottle upside down);
  • then roll the shoji paper on the frame and afterwards cut off excess paper. Let the glue dry (not less than 5 hours) and spray the paper lightly with water. In such a way, the paper will tauten.

    This article purports to be about making a shoji screen. There are no instructions on making such a screen in the article. The author only offers a brief description of gluing rice paper onto the already somehow completed screen.

    I need to find rice paper for making a closet with shoji doors. I would prefer cherry blossom or bamboo design. Can you help? I only need about two rolls.

Life in Art Deco Style

Art Deco: It's the most subtle of all styles of architecture, art and furniture, imho. Always looks modern - almost futuristic, nearly a 100 years after its origin at the World Exhibition 1925. Never goes out of style. Always elegant & stylish in a practical way. The world as a whole should be designed

Japanese shoji screen is made of paper, fabric, or glass on a wooden frame. And you should know that it could be used as a room divider, or for windows or doors. The traditional Japanese house is similar to a very large piece of furniture, especially the floor and the tatami
