I’ve worked in the fashion industry for twenty years but moonlighting in dumpster diving has served me equally well: the birth of my string lampshade series can be traced to an afternoon in 2003, when I found a string, drum-shape cast aside on a New York sidewalk. She became my muse. Kevin Patrick McCarthy light shade melds the carefully homespun qualities of mid-century strings shades with a modern palette of shapes and colors, and a fashion veteran’s attention to unique. high-quality materials. Kevin McCarthy about himself and his way in this life… Of course, it is not the theme of my narration, but I can’t but tell, that I adore the following phrases, not more than 150 words and you already have a clear picture about a person, his or her choice in life and work.

Then a strange question came to my mind, what does it mean lighting, illumination? According to any encyclopedia: lighting is a light, namely in comprises 2 sources of light: artificial and natural. As for me, I like them both: the second one makes (even due to the biological facts) our lives easier and not so dark and the first one helps us not to spend hours at dark. Kevin Patrick McCarthy hobby is aimed to pleased our demands and make homes lighter, more beautiful and attractive.

McCarthy has various collections of house illuminating devices: monofilament collection, yarn and lanyard collection. He uses various materials and makes perfect lamp-shades. My favourite things are: the Martin – it is a very unusual round lampshade, made from a coated steel frame. Also, even more I like the variety of colours it comes in. The next lampshade is called: the Wilson. The same as the Martin it has a round form and made from the same material but its design is impressive. As for me it looks like a small, but dangerous flying fox. And the last thing I like – the Smith. A lampshade of rectangular form. But when it is in clear colour it’s something extraordinary and stunning, well, like a a visitor from Mars.

[...] In order to be an ideal place for: sleeping, reading and even thinking, you have to make correspondent lighting. So, it is possible to have 2 sources of light: a ceiling light and a lamp on the night table. If you don’t like so many items to be in your room, so just buy a lamp-shade, for instance from Kevin McCarthy. [...]

Life in Art Deco Style
by Jazzassin
Art Deco: It's the most subtle of all styles of architecture, art and furniture, imho. Always looks modern - almost futuristic, nearly a 100 years after its origin at the World Exhibition 1925. Never goes out of style. Always elegant & stylish in a practical way. The world as a whole should be designed
SHOJI. Japanese holding screens.
by Furniture
Japanese shoji screen is made of paper, fabric, or glass on a wooden frame. And you should know that it could be used as a room divider, or for windows or doors. The traditional Japanese house is similar to a very large piece of furniture, especially the floor and the tatami
