Even have read the title some will laugh, but I am sure it means they have never been standing in a bus or train for ore than 3 hours. In this case they will for sure evaluate the whole necessity of chairs. Main purpose of chairs is to give rest to tired legs of people and, of course, people themselves. Any chair has specific features, like a seat, 4 legs and a back. Very often chairs are called stools. Also, we can speak about chairs for 2, 3 and even more people, they are called benches, couches, sofas etc.

The same as any other object, chair has his own HISTORY. Chair is a very old object of interior – it was the symbol of power and this word was used in such a combination as “The Chair” for example in the House of Commons. Only in 16th century a chair became an object that even ordinary people could afford. Until 12th century most people in Asia countries used to sit on the floor, actually there were chairs, but those chairs were luxuriously decorated with ivory, ebony and precious metals. In Africa everybody who has bought a chair, as a rule, take it everywhere with him/her, because they have shown the statues of a person like no other thing. Only in 20th century we got acquainted with the technologies of metal legs, folding chairs, massage chairs.

There is a brand-new technique in chairs-making, now it is based on ergonomics. Main idea to make a chair comfortable to a person. To achieve it, nowadays, chairs are made with cushions, arm-rests, from soft material.

Life in Art Deco Style
by Jazzassin
Art Deco: It's the most subtle of all styles of architecture, art and furniture, imho. Always looks modern - almost futuristic, nearly a 100 years after its origin at the World Exhibition 1925. Never goes out of style. Always elegant & stylish in a practical way. The world as a whole should be designed

by Furniture
Japanese shoji screen is made of paper, fabric, or glass on a wooden frame. And you should know that it could be used as a room divider, or for windows or doors. The traditional Japanese house is similar to a very large piece of furniture, especially the floor and the tatami
